It's nice, even romantic, to envision cutting your own wood. But, there are several factors to consider:  Is there a place you can cut it? Do you have a chainsaw & axe? Do you have a way to transport the wood? Do you have a place to dry/season the wood (to store wood you can’t use for 6months to a year)? If you have answered even a single "no," you would be better off buying precut wood.
